This dataset provides information on the separation rates of public school teachers in NSW.

Data Notes:

  • Separations are resignations, retirements (including medical retirements), terminations and deaths.

  • Data reflects only permanent public school teachers in NSW. This includes principals and school executive, but excludes casual teachers.

  • Separation rates are determined by calculating the number of teachers who separate from the department as a percentage of the teaching workforce.

  • Data is based on the number of public school teachers employed on the Census date as at June each year. Data is obtained through the department’s computerised human resources information system.

  • Refer to the individual publication for further information and policy context.
