The North Shore Strategic Transport Study was initiated by The Hon. Bruce Baird, Minister for Transport, to examine and report on transport issues in the North Shore area and to evaluate strategic transport proposals for this area. An inter-agency Steering Committee was established to provide overall study direction and report to the Minister for Transport. The Steering Committee was made up of representatives from the Ministry of Transport, the Roads and Traffic Authority, the State Rail Authority and the State Transit Authority. A number of parallel town centre and traffic studies, having a short to medium term time frame, were also carried out. The study was undertaken by the Planning and Studies Division of the Ministry of Transport and oversighted by the Steering Committee. Economic and financial analyses of the transport proposals were conducted in accordance with the Asset Appraisal Guidelines of the NSW Treasury.
