Proposed rock batter rectification Victoria Pass, Mount Victoria : environmental impact statement

This environmental impact statement (EIS) documents investigations for proposed works to rectify an unstable rock batter located adjacent to the Great Western Highway at Mount Victoria. The project involves removal of the unstable sections from the rock batter and top boulder slope of the batter by controlled excavation. The cutting would be widened and the slope reprofiled to a stable angle. A rock fall buffer zone of six metres width would be provided from the edge of the existing road carriageway tom the rock batter. Extensive landscaping treatments to enhance the appearance of the excavated rock face would be incorporated into the project as well as the implementation of erosion and sedimentation control measures. An indicative construction method is proposed which includes provision for an access track, spoil push down area and stockpiling areas.
