NSW public school funds available as at December (2013-2015) - Discontinued

NSW Department of Education

Schools are accountable to the Department of Education and to the school community for how funds are spent to deliver educational programs.

Data Notes:

  • Most NSW public schools operate and maintain their own bank accounts. There are 229 schools that operate under a single bank account arrangement as a result of the implementation of the Learning Management and Business Reform and Local Schools, Local Decisions programs.

  • The majority of funds held at any point in the school year are used for the delivery of educational programs, payment of operational costs, replacement of equipment and purchase of additional assets. The 229 schools also receive a budget for their permanent staff costs.

  • The majority of schools operate only one bank account. However some schools operate additional accounts for investment purposes or for the establishment of school library or building funds which need to be kept separate for tax deductibility purposes.

  • This dataset has been temporarily discontinued.
