Draft review of environmental factors for proposed reconstruction and widening of Cowpasture Road, Green Valley and Elizabeth drive, Bonnyrigg Heights

Cowpasture Road is a 12.8 kilometre long arterial road that generally runs in a north south direction between Bossley Park and Hoxton Park in the western region of metropolitan Sydney. Cowpasture Road has been classified as a state Road to reflect the important regional status it has gained through the continuing growth of the western region of Sydney. This section is abutted by the rapidly developing residential areas of Bonnyrigg Heights and Cecil Hills located to the east and west of Cowpasture Road respectively. The land development and associated traffic generation has emphasised a need to improve the performance of Cowpasture Road will continue to provide for north-south movements for this growing region of Sydney. The existing road serves local, commuter and business traffic including heavy vehicles with increasing traffic generation and delays. The proposal is to reconstruct the 2.2 kilometre section of Cowpasture Road from 200 metres south of north Liverpool Road, Green Valley to 300 metres north of Elizabeth Drive, Bonnyrigg Heights from an existing two lane undivided road to a four lane dual carriageway road in two stages.
